Three of five suspects arrested in Delgado murder

State and federal agents this weekend arrested three of the five suspects wanted in connection with a Barrow County woman’s murder.

On Saturday, May 15, GBI agents working in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations in Atlanta and Texas and officials in Mexico coordinated the arrests of Megan Colone, 30, and Oscar Manuel Garcia, 26. The fifth suspect (previously identified in news releases by photographs) was located with Garcia and was identified as Juan Antonio Vega, 25, of Cobb County.

Officials had outstanding arrest warrants for Colone and Garcia. They obtained an arrest warrant for Vega and also charged him with murdering Rossana Delgado. The 37-year-old mother of two was found dead on April 20 in Gilmer County after going missing in Dekalb County four days earlier.

“All three suspects were apprehended in Mexico and returned to the United States,” says GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles. She says federal agents transported them to Texas detention facilities where they are now awaiting extradition proceedings to Georgia to face murder charges. Miles adds, “Colone’s children were safely returned to the United States during these arrest operations.”

Officials are still searching for two other suspects in Delgado’s murder. Juan Ayala-Rodriguez, 35, is from Gainesville, Georgia. Mario Alberto Barbosa-Juarez, 29, is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A sixth person, Calvin Harvard, age 28, of Covington, was arrested in April. According to the GBI, he was charged with tampering with evidence and theft by receiving stolen property in connection with the case.

Investigators are still seeking leads on the identity of a woman seen in a store surveillance video recorded on April 16. According to investigators, she was one of the last people to interact with Delgado before she disappeared.

Investigators continue to ask for the public’s help in identifying the woman and to help locate Ayala-Rodriguez and Barbosa-Juarez. Anyone with information is asked to contact the GBI tip line at 1-800-597-8477, visit their online tip website, or download the See Something, Send Something app.
