Thomas Mearin King

THOMAS MEARN KING, age 71, of Cornelia, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Habersham County on January 22, 1943, he was a son of the late W.G. King and Gladys Scott King. Mr. King was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Fieldale Farms with 42 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, Atlanta Braves fan and Atlanta Falcons fan who enjoyed playing cards.
In addition to his parents, Mr. King was also preceded in death by brothers, James King, Hubert King and W.C. King; sister, Lucille King Hamilton.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Shirley Willingham King of Cornelia; sons, Mearn King and Thomas Andrew King both of Cornelia; granddaughter, Ebonie King of Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Barbara King of Cornelia, Matthew and Virginia King of Toccoa, Johnny and Sandra King of Cornelia and Anthony and Cindy King Of Cornelia; sister, Martha King of Cornelia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Mae and Ulous Harris of Clarkesville, Everean and Michael Berry of Mt. Airy and Betty and J.L. Browner of Baldwin; sister-in-law, Louise King of Cornelia; special friends, Benjamin Scott, Deborah Leverette, Gus McDonald and Lee Caudell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at The Torch Worship Center with Pastor Mike Franklin, Bishop Ernest Burns, and Pastor Tracy Curry officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
