Thomas Lowell Black, age 86 of Demorest, passed away March 2, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Grady Walden and Duane Black officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on June 25, 1931, Mr. Black was the son of the late Edvin and Belle Hightower Black. Mr. Black was a member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was retired from Chicopee – Johnson and Johnson where he was a planning manager. In addition to his parents, Mr. Black is preceded in death by son Barry Black and daughter Judith Black Dituro.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Martha Imogene Gerrin Black, daughter and son-in-law Gale and James Chambers of Demorest, son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Teresa Black of Martin, sisters Melba Barr of Carnesville and Lavonda Wright of Demorest and brother and sister-in-law of Duane and Coma Lee Black of Demorest, grandsons Anthony (Courtney) Dituro of Barboursville, West Virginia, Kelvin (Erin) Mullins of Cumming, Nathan (Mandie) Mullins of Duluth, Christopher (Rachel) Black of Athens and Clay Black of Martin, granddaughters Christina Dituro of Charlotte, North Carolina and Ellen Black of Athens, as well as 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and special family Michael and Judy Dituro of Huntington, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
