Thomas Hotard, a senior at Habersham Central High School, has been named the school’s DAR Good Citizen This award recognizes the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism at home, at school, and in the community.
Thomas is currently in the top 5% of the senior class, has been named a 2019 AP Scholar by the College Board, is an Academic Letterman, a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, and is enrolled in the AP Capstone Program. He has set school records in Cross Country and Track and has competed at state in both sports. Thomas also plays in the HCHS Symphonic Band and enjoys mentoring through the Youth Leadership Program. He is active in Beta Club and the Interact Club.
As a freshman, Thomas received the Citizenship Award and Raider Pride Award. By faculty nomination, Thomas received a Raider Salute Award in his junior year in recognition of strong scholarship, service, and character.
His church youth leader describes Thomas as “a leader among men.”
“Thomas exemplifies the qualities of students participating in our Good Citizens Program. His activities, awards, grades, community service, and extracurricular activities are incredible,” says Director of the Tomochichi DAR Chapter’s Good Citizens recognition Lynne Ramsaur.
Thomas is the son of Gabe and Sylvia Hotard of Clarkesville and plans to attend the University of Georgia.
