Thomas C. Frankum, Jr., 75, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016.
Mr. Frankum was born in Clarkesville, Georgia the son of the late Bonnie Stonecypher Frankum and Thomas C. Frankum, Sr. He was a graduate of Mercer University, received his degree in Consumer Banking from the University of Virginia, and advance management school from Emory University. Mr. Frankum had a 49 year banking career, having worked with Citizens and Southern Bank, then Bank of America, before retiring from BB&T in 2011. He was a United States Army Reserve veteran.
Mr. Frankum served on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army, the Allocations Committee of United Way, the Board of Directors and Instructor of the American Institute of Banking, and Board of Directors of the Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department. He was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Burks Sunday School Class. Mr. Frankum also served on the Administrative Board, the Finance Committee, and was a Trustee.
Mr. Frankum is survived by those he loved most – his wife of 51 years, Elaine Alley Frankum of Macon (formerly of Clarkesville, GA); son, Brian (Jennifer) Frankum of Macon; grandsons whom he adored, Cole Frankum, Taylor Frankum, and Nate Frankum; brothers-in-law, Harrison (Shirley) Alley, Reed (Edith) Alley; sister-in-law, Sharon Alley Grindle (Donald); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2016 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Baxter Hurley, Rev. Diane Sweckard, and Rev. Robby Kerr will officiate.
The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 Monday at the church.
