“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.” Psalm 18:16
It probably shouldn’t happen, but every time I read this verse I hear Diana Ross. “Ain’t no mountain high enough; ain’t no valley low enough; ain’t no river wide enough; to keep me from gettin to you babe.”
My grandmother used to say whenever anyone felt sad or discouraged, “You’ll never slip too low for God. He can always reach His hand down and snatch you out.” This gave me tremendous comfort. I could envision myself falling, falling, falling and…scoop! God’s hand would reached down and pull me back up.
Some of you may feel you are in the depths of despair. Life may have dished out a bit more than you bargained for, and there is little comfort in day-to-day living. God’s love is so much deeper than your problems; your grief and sorrow; your job loss; your illness; and your despair. You may question just exactly where God is in all that is going on around you. And the answer to your question is simple…
Where is God when you feel you’ve hit rock bottom? He is the Rock at your bottom and He isn’t going anywhere without you.
