The highly anticipated Green Tower at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville is set to open on February 8, 2025, bringing state-of-the-art medical advancements to the campus. The 11-story, 927,000-square-foot facility will be located next to the existing North Patient Tower, offering several exciting upgrades for the community.

On Saturday, February 1, the public had the chance to tour the new building, interact with physicians and staff, and learn about the improvements that will enhance patient care. One of the standout features is the newly relocated Emergency Department, now on the ground floor of the Green Tower. This strategic placement ensures quicker, more efficient access to care, particularly for trauma and heart patients, where every moment counts.

A dedicated Pediatric section will also be included in the new tower, named in honor of Dr. Buddy Langston, a beloved pediatrician in Hall County. In addition, a brand-new helipad on the roof will significantly reduce response time for patients arriving by helicopter, giving immediate access to life-saving care for trauma, heart, stroke, and surgical patients. This improvement can make all the difference in critical situations.

Visitors to the facility were able to see cutting-edge technology up close, including the chance to experience robotic-assisted heart surgery, with physicians offering demonstrations and answering questions about the new equipment. Integrating heart and vascular services from Georgia Heart Institute, diagnostic testing, a cardiac cath lab, and open-heart surgery will improve patient and family care.

The Green Tower also boasts expanded surgical capacity, with additional operating rooms and 150 more inpatient beds, increasing the hospital’s ability to serve the growing community. Outside, Anne’s Garden, a serene space donated by Anne Thomas, provides a peaceful environment for patients and families to relax and reconnect with nature during their healing process.

With these significant upgrades, the Green Tower is set to transform healthcare delivery in Hall County and surrounding areas, bringing more advanced, efficient, and compassionate care to the community.
