It was a full slate of games for the TFS volleyball teams, as the varsity, JV, and C-Team were all in action on Saturday. The Lady Indians varsity team played four matches in a Grayson tournament, while the JV team won three times at Monroe Area, and the C-Team competed at St. Pius.

VARSITY

The Lady Indians split four matches, defeating Collins Hill and Springfield while suffering a tough loss to state-ranked Dacula in three sets and against Grayson also in three sets.

“Addy McCoy showed up big time today after struggling the last few matches,” says coach Matt Heyl. “She was in a serving slump but fixed her mindset and was probably our top server today.”

The split moves TFS to 13-5 on the season overall, and play again Monday at home against Murphy (NC).

JV

The JV Lady Indians went 3-1 on Saturday at Monroe Area, beating the host school, BASA, and Clarkston all in straight sets before taking a 0-2 loss to Jefferson.

“We had a good showing today,” says coach Danielle Smith. “We had to deal with some injuries today and shuffled around positions because we didn’t have Chesney Tanksley to set for two games due to injury, and Sophia Rueda wasn’t able to hit because of her tendinitis in her wrist. Overall the team played pretty well today, Each girl really had to have each other’s back today, so I’m really proud of their effort.”

With the solid showing, the JV team is now 13-5 on the season and play Monday at home against Murphy (NC).

C-Team

The TFS C-Team competed at St. Pius and took four tough losses against Johns Creek, Centennial, St. Pius, and Milton. Good serving by Allie Phasavang and Jalin Garrison marked the match against Johns Creek, while the thriller against Centennial featured solid serving by Caroline Smith, Julia Smith, and Gemma Farris.

“It was a good comeback, just not enough in the end,” says coach Jo Kimbrel.

Against St. Pius, Jace Ibemere had great play at the net, while the hard-fought loss to Milton saw Phasavang, Karagan Branson, and Lizzy Wanner play very well at the net.
