This year’s Tallulah Falls School Alumni Homecoming Weekend promises to be the best yet. With a family-friendly social planned for Friday night, alumni can look forward to seeing former classmates in a relaxed setting. On Saturday, the always-popular “Light in the Mountains” 5K will now feature an adventure theme. Other highlights planned for Saturday include a naming ceremony to honor the late Coach Herb Amick and a Homecoming luncheon. As always, the museum will be open and TFS-themed gear will be offered for sale.
All activities will take place April 24-25. All former students, staff and alumni are invited back to campus for two days of fun and reminiscing.
Honored classes this year are: 1935, 1945, 1955, 1965, 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005.
“The TFS Alumni Committee has been hard at work on the plans for Homecoming Weekend and we look forward to celebrating our strong connection to the school,” said Irene Gray, alumni committee member.
Friday April 24 activities include, from 5-8 p.m., a family social at the soccer field. “The Orange Constant” band will be performing, Alpha Dog will have a concession and two bouncy house/slides will be available. Additionally, “Heroes in Force” will be there to highlight the family-friendly theme for the evening.
The 12th annual “Light in the Mountains” 5K Fury at the Farm Race will be held at 10 a.m. April 25. The race format has been changed this year to include an obstacle/adventure course to take place at the School Farm.
At noon, a special ceremony naming the athletic field for Coach Herb Amick, the first TFS football coach, will take place.
From 1-3 p.m., a Homecoming luncheon will be held in Federation Hall Dining Hall. The luncheon will feature the traditional Homecoming fried chicken menu with the Alumni Committee to deliver the program.
Registration for the luncheon program, $15, starts at 11 a.m. in the Circle Building lobby.
