For the first time ever, 55 middle school track & field student-athletes from Tallulah Falls School competed in an indoor meet.
Students and coaches from Riverside Military Academy Middle School Indoor Experience hosted both boys’ and girls’ teams at an indoor fieldhouse.
The meet provided good competition, an opportunity to try an array of events and memories galore for 200-plus tweens,” said TFS Athletic Director Scott Neal.
Seventh-grader Julianne Shirley of Clarkesville won the high jump and 400m and placed second in the 200m. Eighth-grader Kate Trotter of Demorest was the 800m and 1500m runner-up while seventh-grader Ellie Southards of Dillard placed second in the shot put and fifth in the 55m.
Eighth-grader Sammy Hartman of Clermont placed second in the 400m and fourth in the 55m hurdles. Eighth-grader Emma Jackson of Clayton was third in the 800m and fifth in the 1500m. Sixth-grader Chesney Tanksley of Mt. Airy (400m) Eighth-grader Cassidy Hayes of Cornelia (triple jump) placed third in their events. The 4x200m relay team placed second.
On the boys side, eighth-grader Nelson Wilkinson of Cleveland won the shot put and placed second in the 200m and fourth in the 400m. Eighth-grader Colton Hicks of Clarkesville won the 800m and crossed the finish line fourth in the 1500m. Eighth-grader Lincoln Hall of Mt. Airy placed second in the 55m hurdles and pole vault. Seventh-grader Joel Bourlet of Tallulah Falls was also the pole vault runner-up.Seventh-grader CJ Augustine of Demorest finished third in the triple jump.
