TFS Middle School Track & Field Competes at State

Thirteen members of the TFS track team competed against 84 teams and more than 1,300 athletes at the Georgia Middle School Track & Field State Championship held at Parkview High School April 22-23.

TFS boys placed 20th of the 84 teams. Seventh grader Grey Bourlet of Tallulah Falls vaulted 9’5” to be state runner-up, a Top 3 TFS middle school Legacy List vault. Eighth grader John Nichols of Clarkesville placed eighth with a height of 8’7”.

According to Athletic Director Scott Neal, the high level of skill and competition at this meet drove the TFS athletes to achieve many personal best performances and many earned new positions on the TFS middle school performance Legacy List.

Eighth grader Carrie Durand of Toccoa shattered her previous personal record in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:39. Eighth grader Chris Geiger of Sautee-Nacoochee ran the 1600 in 5:27, earning the No. 2 position on the TFS Legacy List. His 800 meter run in 2:29 earned a personal best and Top 3 legacy performance.

Eighth grader Brianna Docsol of Toccoa achieved personal records in the 200 meters (28.52) and long jump (14’ 5”) to move up to the No. 2 and No. 3 bests on the TFS middle school Legacy List.
Eighth Grader Reid Kafsky of Clarkesville set a personal record at 28’6” in the triple jump, placing sixth on the list.

Eighth grader Eva Wiggins of Atlanta threw the shot put for a personal best distance of 28’8” and eighth grader Matthew Weidner of Clarkesville threw the ball 36’2” to earn the No. 2 spot on the Legacy List.
