TFS kicks off another school year with six new countries represented on campus

Classes began Aug. 8 at Tallulah Falls School for the 2022-23 academic year. Shown is fifth grader Ayaan Rahman of Mt. Airy, whose older brother Nafis graduated with the TFS Class of 2022. Like the Rahman brothers, local families represent the majority of the day student population, with 208 students from Habersham County and 180 from the four closest neighboring counties, Stephens, White, Rabun and Banks. Tallulah Falls School is entering this new school year with international boarding students from six new countries. Students from Australia, Germany, Guatemala, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom bring to 30 the total number of countries now represented on the north Habersham County campus.

“I am incredibly excited to welcome our new international students; having students from across the globe learn with students from Northeast Georgia is one of the benefits of the TFS experience,” says Tallulah Falls School President and Head of School Larry Peevy.

Local families continue to represent most of the day student population, with 208 students from Habersham County and 180 from the four neighboring counties, Stephens, White, Rabun and Banks in grades 5-12.

The school’s residence hall staff welcomed over 130 boarding students, with approximately 100 international students making themselves at home on campus.

TFS students returned to class on August 8. Peevy calls the start of school a “season of new beginnings.”

“I am eager to see our students, faculty and staff come together to create what I’m sure will be an excellent year.”

The first day of the Class of 2023 started at dawn with a traditional sunrise biscuit breakfast. Fall season athletic activities are already in motion with clubs and other extracurricular activities set to start soon.
