Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for January 23-28.
VARSITY BOY
Freshman Caden Griffis of Martin was named a TFS Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Caden is an outstanding swimmer and teammate,” Cochran said. “He is always there to help everyone out and cheers them on as they race. This week he had personal record in the 200-yard freestyle with 2:25.25, which is ten seconds faster than his previous time. His relay team dropped time in both the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle. Caden will be an alternate for the boys state relay team in early February.”
VARSITY GIRL
Freshman Reid Kafsky of Clarkesville was also named a varsity Indian of the Week by Cochran. “Reid started off the swim season with a rejuvenated spirit and dedication,” Cochran said. “She is a great teammate who is always there to help everyone. Reid has showed great progress throughout the season. She is a part of the ‘A’ relay team which will swim the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard relay at the state meet. In individual events, Reid will compete in the 50-yard freestyle which she crushed at the last meet with her best time ever with a 26.13. Reid has worked hard this year, and her dedication and determination has really paid off.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Middle school basketball coach Randy Morris named seventh grader Honora Kahwach of Cleveland as an Indian of the Week. “Honora has been an outstanding player for us this year,” Morris said. “She has been the girl that we designed our defense around the past two seasons. Now, with the addition of an outstanding offense, she has become an all-around great player. She averaged 10 points per game for the past week.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
The final Indian of the week is eighth grader Logan Huling of Mt. Airy, a member of the middle school swim team. “Logan wanted to finish his eighth grade year with bang,” said coach Annette Cochran. “Logan helped his 200 individual medley relay team drop 20 seconds, which gave them a first place finish. Logan placed second by dropping two seconds in the 50-yard butterfly. He was eager to finish his season off with more first place wins, so he dropped an impressive nine seconds in the 100-yard freestyle landing him another first place win. Logan finish off his middle school swim career with great results.”
