Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for March 13-18.
VARSITY BOY
Senior Thala Freeman of Liberia was selected by track & field coach Scott Neal as an Indian of the Week. “Thala set personal records in the 200 meter (23.97) and 400 meter events (53.67),” Neal said. “He also jumped 5’-10” to place fourth at the Greater Atlanta Christian Invite and ran strong legs on both relays.”
VARSITY GIRL
Coach Neal also selected junior Perry Gresham of Clarkesville as an Indian of the Week. “Perry, one of our Team Leaders, broke the 1600 meter school record twice this week,” Neal said. “First she lowered it to 5:55, then to 5:50.56, which placed seventh at the GAC Invite. She also ran a personal record 2:38.06 in the 800 meter and is an integral leg on the 4×4 relay, currently ranked No. 4 in Class A-Private. Perry is “en fuego” as a runner right now and her enthusiasm is contagious to the team.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Eighth grader Maggie Jackson of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school golf coach Cyndy Campbell. “Maggie shot a 44 at Mossy Creek this week and was the TFS low medalist in our match against White County,” Campbell said. “She also shot a 41 at High Hampton in Cashiers, NC on Thursday. The score earned her the low medalist for the match contributing to a team win of 12 strokes over Summit Charter. She has been playing with an injured ankle but has not let it slow her down. I am so very proud of Maggie and look forward to her playing at the high school level.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
Eighth grader Collin Kelly of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Week by track and field coach Scott Neal. “Collin is an exceptional leader,” Neal said. “His devotion to team above self was evident recently when he was nominated for TFS Athlete of the Meet at the Jackson County meet by a peer; he declined it because he felt another team member was more deserving, even though Collin ran two personal records (800 meter and 1600 meter). He continues to set the standard of a role model leader we seek at TFS.”
