The Tallulah Falls School (TFS) community came together for the first-ever Light in the Mountains Festival on Friday, October 18. The event, organized by a committee of teachers, parents, alumni, and students, offered an evening of food, games, and entertainment for the entire school community.
The festival took place on the TFS athletic fields, which were transformed with activities for all ages. Attendees enjoyed face painting, hay rides, a dunk tank for faculty, and a variety of games. Food trucks, including a mobile lemonade stand run by seventh-grader Ruby Sue Anderson, provided refreshments.
“We are glad to provide an opportunity for everyone from all over campus to enjoy each other’s company, have fun, visit, and relax. The event truly captured the spirit of our TFS community,” says President and Head of School Dr. Larry Peevy.
The event showcased the talents of the TFS community. Fine arts students decorated the hayrides, adding a festive atmosphere to the campus tours. The TFS BBQ club, 1909 Mountain Smoke, made their debut, serving smoked pork. Alumna Amelia Provine’s parents also participated, bringing their Oba Brazilian Cuisine food truck.
Kim Popham, Director of Retention and a member of the organizing committee, emphasizes the collaborative effort behind the festival’s success.
“It truly takes a collective effort and collaboration to create such a memorable evening,” she says, expressing gratitude to the committee members and everyone who contributed to the event.
