The TFS cross country teams raced on Wednesday evening at Athens Christian, and both the boys and girls varsity teams secured a state meet bid with third-place finishes. Evan Prince highlighted the action with his second straight region title individually. Several TFS runners ran personal bests on what was a tough course.
The Indians secured a spot at state for the third year in a row, while the girls as a team made it for the second time ever. Senior Lucy Alexander qualified as an individual in a prior year, meaning she’ll be experiencing a state meet for third time in a row.
Jackson Shadburn, Clay Kafsky, Timothy Beck, Stasa Beratovic, Josie Chesser, Caroline Ball, and Kailyn Neal all had PRs. Chesser finished 10th for the girls to pace the Lady Indians, while Prince was followed by junior Walker Bailey’s fourth-place finish. Prince is only the second TFS athlete to ever win two or more individual region titles (Mike Wood won three from 1989-91).
