BOYS

The Indians secured a 49-42 win on Friday at home against Commerce, surviving the Tigers’ late rally. The win streak now sits at six for #4-ranked TFS.

After falling behind in the first after a Commerce 7-0 run, the Indians used a 3-pointer from Zakhar Valasiuk to regain the lead, which stood at 14-13 after one.

Vlad Popescu notched an early second quarter trifecta, his second of the game, to help get TFS up 29-23 at halftime. An Indians 6-1 run to the open the second half started to create some separation, but the Tigers clawed their way back from 11 points down to coming within 5 points of the lead late.

The Indians sealed the win at the free throw line and with running time off the clock. Anfernee Hanna had a team-high 17 points, with 12 coming in the second half. Popescu recorded 11 points (all in the first two quarters). Valsiuk also had 11 points, while Lincoln Hall registered 5, Diego Crotta 3, and Krystian Jankiewicz 2.

TFS is now 13-2 overall and 2-0 in region play, and return to the court on Saturday at home against Prince Avenue Christian.
