TFS basketball earns dominating sweep over Westminster Christian

GIRLS

The seven-game win streak was snapped in dominating fashion, as the Lady Indians ran away with a 71-33 victory on Saturday against Westminster Christian.

TFS was up 20-8 after the first quarter, and kept WC off the board throughout the entire second quarter on the way to a comfortable 36-8 margin at the half. From there, TFS outscored Westminster 35-25 the rest of the way.

It was Denika Lightbourne leading the offense with 28 points, while Breelyn Wood racked up 16 to go with a pair of 3-pointers. Allie Phasavang and Tanisha Seymour both had 10 points apiece, and Millie Holcomb had 4 and Molly Mitchell 3 in the win.

The Lady Indians are now 3-8 on the season, and return to action on Monday against Walhalla.

BOYS

The #5-ranked Indians posted a 30-point win on the road Saturday evening against Westminster Christian, 70-40.

Three players reached double figures in scoring, led by Vlad Popescu’s 15, Zakhar Valasiuk’s 12, and Anfernee Hanna’s 11.

TFS moves to 9-2 overall on the season, and play on Monday at Walhalla in the final game before the break.
