At a festive celebration at a scenic mountain venue, members of the Tallulah Falls School community celebrated with newly-minted royalty at the 2017 prom.
Dean of Students Jimmy Franklin revealed the results of a secret, peer-selected vote, naming Michael Weidner of Clarkesville as Prom King and Sola Sofela of Nigeria as Prom Queen.
Held for the second year at Chota Falls, students, faculty and staff enjoyed the much-anticipated formal event on April 1.
Juniors and seniors arrived early to savor a special meal after President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy invited faculty and staff members to raise a glass in a special toast to both classes, with an emphasis on this year’s graduating seniors.
“We celebrate on this night, the accomplishments of our pending graduates and the hard work of all of our students,” Peevy said. “This is a wonderful occasion to come together as a school community as we close out another great year at Tallulah Falls School.”
After dinner, freshman and sophomores arrived as the dance started. At 8 p.m., many parents of seniors were present to witness the recognition of the Class of 2017 during a Senior Walk. The King and Queen were announced, with Peevy and TFS Board of Trustees Chairwoman Amy Atkinson crowning the queen and king, respectively.
