Terry Lamar Nelson

Terry Lamar Nelson, born on November 14, 1969, in Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Demorest. He is remembered not only for his steadfast dedication to his family but also for his service to his country and his vibrant spirit.

Terry served honorably in the United States Army for seven years, during which he received multiple medals and ribbons for his contributions. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Terry found immense joy in nature and hiking. His passion for digital creation, coupled with his appreciation for the beauty of the world around him, allowed him to engage with life in a unique and fulfilling way.

Family was at the heart of Terry’s existence, and his proudest accomplishment was being a beloved “Peepaw” to his grandchild, Charlie Huyck. He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, instilling values of kindness and laughter in their lives.

Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Kristy Decker Nelson; his mother, Ilene Elizabeth Tolbert Nelson; his son, Dustin Nelson; his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Nelson Huyck (David); and his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie Henson (Denny). He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Edwin Nelson.

A graveside service to honor Terry’s life will be held on February 24, 2025, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. The service will begin at 1:00 PM. This gathering will celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind, reflecting the warmth, love, and memories that will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.
