REMINDER: Temporary square closure in Clarkesville as crews construct plaza

The east side of the downtown Clarkesville square parking lot will be closed on Monday, October 10th as construction crews will be bringing large concrete slabs to construct the Clarkesville plaza.
The closure will take place from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. East Water Street from Jefferson Street to Washington Street will also be closed to thru traffic during this same period. Any cars left on the parking lot by 5 a.m. Monday, October 10th will be towed at owner’s expense.

“We ask for everyone’s pardon as this huge task is completed,” explains Mayor Barrie Aycock. “Because there will be very large cranes transporting several hundred tons of concrete, it is in the best interest of the public that all cars be removed from that lot until that evening.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Additional parking to access that side of the square is located in the public parking lot on the corners of Bridge and Monroe Street. The Mauldin House Visitor’s Center parking lot is also open for public parking.
