No foul play is suspected in the weekend shooting death of a Cornelia teenager.
Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith says 18-year old Hernan Macias was found in the road with a gunshot wound to his head in the area of Hendricks Street around 10:50 p.m. Saturday. Smith says the teen lived in the area. He was transported to the Habersham County Medical Center emergency room where he was pronounced dead.
While no foul play is suspected, the investigation into Macias’ death remains open. Chief Smith says, “Investigators are awaiting the results from an autopsy being conducted by the GBI.”
