Two 15-year-old girls from White County High School have been criminally charged after allegedly injuring a classmate during a Tik Tok challenge.

The school’s resource officer was notified Monday that a student suffered possible head trauma after being involved in the challenge between the two girls. The incident occurred November 7 during a class break, says White County Sheriff Rick Kelley.

The skull-breaker challenge went viral several years ago. It involves two people asking an unsuspecting person if they can jump as high as them. When the person tries, the two who are in on the stunt kick their legs out from under them, making them crash land.

Based on the complaint, Sheriff Kelley says an investigation was conducted. As a result, the two unidentified teens were charged on November 10 with aggravated battery and disorderly conduct. Both girls have been processed and turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice, Kelley says.

The White County School System released a statement Thursday saying high school administrators were made aware of a video posted on social media involving a Tik Tok challenge. The school system says it takes all reports relating to student safety seriously and a thorough investigation was conducted.
“Based on the results of the investigation, student disciplinary procedures were followed in accordance with our Code of Conduct,” the statement says.
“Our school system is not alone in addressing negative student behaviors resulting from the impact of social media. White County School System will continue to address all situations in order to promote the safety and well-being of all of our students.”

Officials warn against participating in the skull breaker challenge; it’s been blamed for serious injuries and a number of deaths worldwide.
