Teen sentenced for killing Toccoa mother and daughter in drunk, wrong-way crash

A Toccoa teenager who plead guilty to two counts of felony vehicular homicide will spend the next three years of his life in prison. 17-year-old Tristen Cade Boleman was sentenced to eight years, three to serve, by Superior Court Judge Chan Caudell this week in Stephens County.

Boleman was drunk, driving the wrong way on GA 365 when he collided head-on with another vehicle on Sept. 9, 2017. 29-year-old Allyson Franklin and her 65-year-old mother Kathy Franklin, both of Toccoa, were killed in the crash.

Boleman was 16 years old at the time. He was seriously injured.

Before sentencing, Judge Caudell heard from members of the victims’ family and Boleman’s family.

“Both families will never be the same as a result of Bolemon’s decision to drink and drive,” says Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian.

Boleman will serve out his prison term in the state prison system. He was taken into custody after the hearing on Oct. 10.

The D.A. says he hopes parents and educators will “use this tragedy as an opportunity to talk to their children and students about the dangers and risk of drinking alcohol, taking drugs, and driving.”
