A Gainesville teenager has been arrested and charged for a home invasion that left three elderly women hurt and traumatized. The incident happened Wednesday morning in East Hall County, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
15-year-old Angel Juarez-Coreno is charged as an adult with three counts of first-degree home invasion, armed robbery, and exploitation of an elderly person. He is also being charged with battery and hindering a 911 call, the release states.
The incident happened at around 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 2000 block of Oconee Circle. According to the preliminary investigation, Juarez-Coreno walked into the home without permission and flashed a bright light into the eyes of three female victims. He then slapped one of the women in the face as she tried to push him out the door, causing her nose to bleed.
“Juarez-Coreno threatened to shoot everyone in the home before stealing a TV and one victim’s phone as she was calling 911,” says sheriff’s office spokesperson Derreck Booth. “He then left the house.”
The victims are 86, 76, and 65 years old, according to Booth.
The women notified authorities, who set up a perimeter around the home and began tracking the suspect with K9s. At approximately 12:15 p.m., Booth says the team located Juarez-Coreno at his residence in the 2700 block of Oconee Drive.
Following his arrest and booking, sheriff’s office personnel transported Juarez-Coreno to the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.
