A teenager was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 12 after allegedly trespassing while in possession of drugs at Apalachee High School, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say that at 1:11 p.m., school resource officers arrested Herson Galindo, 18, of Atlanta, and charged him with criminal trespass, possession of a schedule 1 narcotic and possession of drugs on school grounds.
According to police, Galindo rode the bus to Apalachee High School with his girlfriend, a student at the school. Once on campus, he was allegedly seen loitering in the hallways and hiding in bathrooms.
A student noticed his suspicious behavior, according to authorities, and reported him to one of the officers on duty. Officers determined Galindo was not a student at Apalachee High School and took him into custody.
During his arrest, Galindo was allegedly found to be in possession of a single vape pen containing THC. Officials confirmed he was not carrying any weapons and there is no indication that he was involved in drug sales on school property.
Galindo had not been booked into the Barrow County Detention Center at the time of the news release, and no information regarding his bond is available. Authorities have stated that updates will be provided as they become available.
