
An 18-year-old student arrested for allegedly carrying a loaded handgun and THC vapes onto a Hall County school campus is out of jail. Authorities released Joshua Brent Edwards from custody on Saturday, May 3, after he posted a $12,220 bond.
Hall County deputies arrested the Gainesville teen on Friday, May 2, during a routine safety sweep at Lanier College & Career Academy (LCCA) in Oakwood. Deputies allegedly discovered the illicit items in Edwards’ backpack after a K-9 alerted them to it. A search of the bag uncovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun with an altered serial number, along with several THC vape cartridges, the sheriff’s office says.
Edwards faces multiple charges, including: Possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of THC vape cartridges on school property.
