Warm weekend ahead

The first taste of spring is coming to North Georgia this week.

Monday will feature sunny skies across North Georgia with temperatures soaring into the mid and upper 60s. Winds will be light as high pressure builds into the region.

Temperature departures from normal Tuesday afternoon

Tuesday will bring a real taste of spring, and potentially record warmth, to the region. Record highs range from 72º-75º across most of Northeast Georgia for Tuesday. High temperatures will reach near that as we run 20 or more degrees above normal.

Clouds will increase as winds turn to the southwest aloft on Wednesday dragging moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico. While cloudy, it currently appears we will stay dry on Wednesday.

Thursday will the see breakout of showers as a low pressure system moves well north and drags a weak front into the region. Significant rainfall isn’t expected, but showers are likely and some will continue into Friday. Temperatures will remain well above normal for the rest of the week.

For the cold weather lovers out there this warmth does look like it will let up some by mid-month, so winter isn’t done just yet.
