Tallulah Falls varsity boys place seventh in Wesleyan Invite

TFS JV girls finished fourth of six while both JV and varsity boys placed seventh of nine scoring teams at the Wesleyan Invite.

Highlights include Sarah Catherine Fordham placing fifth in the JV race, TFS Runner of the Meet Caleb Griffis coming from behind to edge out teammate Zac Smith. Chathan Clouatre running the fifth best TFS time of the day, and Chris Geiger placing 20th with his finishing kick.  Chathan and Chris diligently followed Coach Dunlap’s sage strategy advice to stay in the middle of the pack and advance as the race unfurled, similar to how Secretariat overtook Sham in the 1973 Kentucky Derby.

The day began with a 6AM predawn, hour and a half drive to Atlanta before arriving on the Bonsai manicured putting green endless lawn of a flattish course at Wesleyan.  Traipsing across the dew before the do helped the warm up prepare for a fun and challenging race.  The competitive and bonding atmosphere provided an epiphany for our harriers in that it offered that early season wake up call to stride for XCellence by training more efficiently in strategy and form and by improving mental fortitude in the details.
