Tallulah Falls middle school boys post perfect score at Summit Charter

TFS boys finished #1-6 and a perfect score of six to defeat Rabun Gap and Summit Charter.

Shrek Wang won in 14:31 while Tyler Farmer passed multiple people in the last quarter mile to be runner-up.  Colton Hicks, Ethan Wanner, Josh Graham, and Brit Shaw rounded out the top six.  Blair Moore (-1:34), Benjamin Oronokwe (-:28), and Wanner ran faster for the this two mile course than the previous 1.9 mile course.

TFS girls finished second by winning the fourth placer tie breaker.  Sammy Hartman placed fourth in 15:30.  Julianne Shirley ran her best race of the season and 1:04 faster than any other course while placing sixth.  Nasha Dembele ran 1:08 faster than the previous race.

Running twice around the mile loop, along the grass field, paved inclines, flat gravel path, and rooty forest trail, 54 sets of legs dashed, loped, and ambled the varied terrain amidst the familial “good job,” “you can do it,” and “finish strong” well meaning exclamations.  There is a subconscious euphoria of running in a lower humidity, cloud covered, southeast mountain elevation that helps ever so slightly to somehow burst through the accelerating discomfort within a continuous line of youthful fatigue.  In short, it was more fun running in nice weather.
