Tallulah Falls girls advance to the semifinals

Dawson, Rabun & Banks girls, Jefferson boys all reserve state playoff spots; Lumpkin/Union girls end season

Tuesday was jam-packed with action on the hardwood, as 11 of our programs took the court with a chance to grab a ticket to the state playoffs (or boost their chances for 1A schools). Each team needed a win, and 6 of them came away with one.

TALLULAH FALLS (GIRLS)

The #6-seed Tallulah Falls girls won an overtime thriller over #3-seed Athens Academy, 61-54. The Lady Indians advance to the Semifinals on Friday at 4 PM.

TALLULAH FALLS (BOYS)

The #6-seed Indians fell to #3 Lakeview, 65-42, ending their regular season.

WHITE CO (BOYS)

The #6-seed Warriors fell to #3 Denmark 44-25 to end their 2018-19 season at Blessed Trinity.

DAWSON CO (GIRLS)

The Lady Tigers survived a close one on Tuesday night with a 64-61 win over Fannin County at home in Dawsonville. Dawson, the #2-seed, got all it wanted from #7 Fannin. The Lady Tigers punched a ticket to the state playoffs with the win, and advance to the 7-AAA Semis on Friday at 4 PM against North Hall at the Lady Trojans’ house.

Kaylee Sticker scored 23 points in the win, including eclipsing the rare 1,500 point total for her career. She is now the second leading scorer in Dawson County history. Madison Anglin dropped in 14 points, Marlie Townley had 9, and Mariah Benson 7.

LUMPKIN CO (GIRLS)

It wasn’t the ending the #4-seed Lady Indians wanted, but they fell 53-48 in overtime to #5-seed Cherokee Bluff to end their 2018-19 historic season at Dawson County.

JEFFERSON (BOYS)

The #3-seed Dragons took down Jackson County, 55-33 to advance to the region semifinals and earn a state playoff trip. Jacob Radaker scored 16 to lead Jefferson, while Donsha Gaither had 12. The boys take on #2-seed Hart County on Thursday.

BANKS CO (GIRLS)

The #2-seed Lady Leopards cruised to an 80-31 win over #7-seed Social Circle at Rabun County to advance to the region semifinals and secure a state playoff game. Banks County takes on Elbert County Thursday at 4 PM.

Heather Vaughan led all scorers with 21 points, Kailynn Gilstrap had 11, and Jaycie Bowen 9. Eleven players tallied points in the win.

RABUN CO (GIRLS)

The top-seed Rabun County Lady Cats won easily over #8-seed Oglethorpe County, 77-15 on the home court. The girls advance to the semifinals of the tournament and secure a playoff game. The semis will be against Monticello on Thursday at 7 PM.

Senior Brooke Henricks eclipsed 1,000 career points in the win, which is very impressive considering she missed almost all of last season.

UNION CO (GIRLS)

The #5-seed Lady Panthers season came to a close in a close 61-58 loss to #4-seed Monticello. Kait McCarter led Union with 20 points, while Ava Hunter had 17, Andelin Hill 9, and Adeline Dockery 6.
