GIRLS

The first win is in the books for the TFS Lady Indians, who blew past Rabun County in Tuesday’s road match by a 9-1 final. The girls used a 6-0 first half to take full control early.

Rabun notched its goal in the second half, but TFS scored 3 more times to secure the win.

Addie Higbie tied a 5-year school record of goals in a game with 5, set first by Maria Whitson in 2017. Higbie added an assist in the match as part of a dominant effort. Jenna Chesser had 2 goals, Honora Kahwach had one as well as an assist, and Gemma Farris recorded the other goal. Maddie Mullis had 2 assists, while Kat Williams, Meredith Morris, and Lizzy Wanner all had assists as well.

“Using the wisdom from the North Hall game, the team prevented scores from all free-kick opportunities, something that had been a focus in training since that match,” says coach Travis Mullis. “They also played with intensity for 2 halves, which was in contrast to the previous match when they became too comfortable in the latter part of the game. Very proud of the team’s effort to be unified in their search for success this season.”

The Lady Indians are 1-1 overall, and play Thursday in the home opener against Lakeview Academy.

BOYS

The Indians claimed win number one on the season when taking a 3-0 clean sheet win at Rabun County on Tuesday evening. It was a complete team win, as the defense, keepers, and offense were clicking for TFS.

“We played well throughout on a beautiful but slick surface,” says coach Jeremy Stille.

Sean Lynes, Jr. followed up his hat trick performance with a 2-goal outing, and also recorded an assist. Austin Ball tallied a goal, while Giovanni Ramirez had an assist.

The Indians were up 2-0 in the first half, and had one by way of a PK by Lynes, Jr. The starting defense, including Brit Shaw, Josiah Turney, and Jake Wehrstein, were solid, as was the duo of Reilly Chatman and Kelton Reynolds between the posts.

“Overall, a great effort by the boys,” adds Stille. “The team is starting to come together and work as a unit offensively and defensively.”

TFS is now 1-0-1 on the season, and play the home opener Thursday against Lakeview Academy.
