Suspicious person call leads to Cleveland man’s arrest

(Cleveland)- A suspicious person call last week  by White County deputies resulted in a suspect being charged with various offences.

Capt. Rick Kelley, with the investigative division at the sheriff’s office said in a press release, on the morning of January 25th, sheriff deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person knocking on a door of a residence in Sautee.

When deputies responded to the area, Kelley said they made contact with 34-year old  Bryan Christopher Thornton of Cleveland. Thornton told the deputies that he was lost.

An investigation found that Thornton was  wearing an empty gun holster and was carrying handcuffs. Deputies also discovered paper work in close proximity to Thornton that had been stolen from the complainant’s truck.  Deputies also discovered a set of bolt cutters that were also in close proximity to Thornton.

According to Kelley, Investigators responded to the  scene and began processing the scene. As a result of the investigation, Thornton was arrested and  charged with Possession  of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, Entering an Automobile, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Taking, and Criminal Attempt to commit Burglary.

The investigation is ongoing, said Kelley.
