At approximately 11:34 AM, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an anonymous individual reporting a suspicious package outside the front doors of the United States Post Office, located at 820 Monroe Highway. At the time, the post office was closed.
Deputies swiftly responded to the scene and established a perimeter around the building to ensure public safety. As a precaution, specialized units, including the University of Georgia Police Department Bomb Squad, were called in to assess the situation.
After a thorough investigation, the package was determined to be non-threatening, and the scene was cleared without any incidents. The investigation into the package’s origins is still ongoing.
