A house fire that broke out late Monday morning in Maysville has been listed as “suspicious,” officials say. Now, state and local investigators are trying to determine what ignited it.
The fire caused moderate damage to the home at 116 Highway 323.
Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols says firefighters responded to the scene around 10:35 a.m. on August 14. They arrived to find smoke showing from the single-family residence.
“The fire was quickly located and was controlled in the rooms of origin,” says Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze with assistance from the Banks County Fire Department and sheriff’s office.
