
The suspect wanted for a shocking home invasion in a Brookstone subdivision is now in the Muscogee County Jail. Police announced on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Antanavious Butler, 26, was arrested in connection with the murder of Norman Lane. The Violent Crimes Unit and Special Operations members took Butler into custody without incident.
Columbus Police Officers responded to a home in the 6200 block of Brookstone Boulevard in reference to a possible burglary on Monday, October 6, 2025, around 8:16 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed signs of forced entry into the home and located a deceased male (later identified as Norman Lane, 65) with gunshot wounds inside the residence. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at 9:09 p.m.
Butler is charged with Murder, Home Invasion, and Possession of a Firearm
During the Commission of a Crime. He is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
