A suspected gunman who police say shot and wounded three men in Gainesville on Tuesday is behind bars.
Hall County deputies arrested 32-year-old Jonathan Vazquez-Rivera without incident. They found him at a residence off of North Cliff Colony Drive north of Gainesville some twelve hours after the shooting.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Derreck Booth says the three men were shot at a residence in the 1000 block of Martin Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates Vazquez-Rivera drove to the residence around 2:30 a.m. on April 7. He allegedly opened fire when one of the victims opened the door, hitting that individual and two others.
Investigators say the shooting appears to be domestic-related and not a random incident.
Two of the victims were shot in the leg, while the third was hit in the head. All three were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Two were treated and released. The third remained hospitalized late Tuesday.
Deputies charged Vazquez-Rivera with aggravated assault. The investigation is ongoing. Booth says additional charges are possible.
