DEMOREST, GA – Aspiring performers can experience the excitement of musical theatre this summer at Piedmont University’s “Triple Threats Intensive Workshop.” Designed for students aged 14-18, the workshop runs June 16-20, 2025, from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily at the Swanson Center for Performing Arts and Communications on the Piedmont University campus in Demorest, GA.

The program focuses on foundational skills for a career in musical theatre, including vocal coaching, dance training, acting instruction, and audition experience. Students receive vocal coaching that covers expression, technique, tone, intonation, blend, and harmony. Students will be exposed to upbeat and expressive choreography, foundational dance training, acting, and auditioning (including headshots) for later use. Students work with Piedmont faculty and alums to create a musical revue featuring scenes and songs from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals. The revue is performed on the final day of the workshop.

“A triple threat in theatre is a performer who can sing, dance, and act,” explained Piedmont University Theatre Department Chair Kathy Blandin. “Triple threats are not created during a one-week workshop – it takes a lifetime of training to achieve this status. However, after attending the Triple Threats Intensive at Piedmont University, students will know how their skills compare to those of others in the same age group, and they will walk away knowing what training they need to pursue next.”

The workshop is limited to 20 students and tuition is $625. A $200 deposit is due by March 15, 2025. Click here to register or visit piedmont.edu/fa.

The Triple Threats Summer Intensive will be led by Kylie Groom Stacy, Director and Vocal Coach; Gracie Tipton, Director and Choreographer; and Kathy Blandin, Administrator and Acting Coach.

Groom Stacy is an Adjunct Professor of Theatre at Piedmont University and a professional actor and teaching artist with over 10 years of experience. Tipton, a Drama Education major at Piedmont University, is graduating in May 2025 and has a love for singing, acting, dancing, and teaching. Blandin is a theatre department chair and associate professor at Piedmont University.
