Student arrested for terroristic threats toward other school students

A student in Jackson County has been arrested for terroristic threats against other school students, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Last night, local authorities said they received a tip from the FBI and GBI before they arrested Christopher Aiden Banks, 17, on one felony count of terroristic threats and acts for threats he allegedly made online.

Banks was homeschooled and no specific school was targeted, according to police.

The sheriff’s office said the incident “appears to be isolated,” though the investigation is still ongoing. Police say family members so far have been cooperative with law enforcement.

“Parents please talk to your children. Discuss the serious nature of these types of threats and comments,” Jackson County Sheriff Kevin McCook said. “We will continue to hold people accountable. Thank you to our patrol deputies and investigators for swift action.”
