A student has been arrested after allegedly making threatening remarks at Franklin County High School, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, Feb. 6, authorities say a 14-year-old male student was arrested on one felony count of terroristic threats and acts in connection with a threat allegedly directed toward the school. The student allegedly “admitted” to making the threatening statement, according to the sheriff’s office.
The threat was addressed by both Franklin County High School’s administrative staff and a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer. The juvenile was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice, according to police, and at no point were students or staff members in danger.
“We will not take these types of threats lightly,” the sheriff’s office and school system said in a joint statement Thursday. “We encourage parents (and) guardians to discuss the importance of the consequences they will face when making threats of this nature. We appreciate the continued support and partnership of Franklin County School System.”
