Emergency vehicles had one lane blocked on GA 115 for nearly two and a half hours while firefighters battled a structure fire at 2930 GA 115. The affected area was immediately west of Fred Pitts Road.

Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the property as firefighters attacked the fire. (Jerry Neace/NowHabersham.com)Dispatchers were notified of the fire at around 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. According to Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore, the structure fire involved an older double wide mobile home that had numerous additions added over the years made extinguishing the fire challenging.

Fire crews also had water supply issues in the area requiring water to be shuttled from Jim Thomas Road at Fred Pitts Road.

One firefighter was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Habersham for evaluation for possible exhaustion or dehydration.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze. GA 115 was completely reopened to traffic at around 6:30 p.m., according to Moore.
