Habersham County’s former Archway Professional Rick Story has been appointed to serve on the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. Story, who now serves as the Director of Development for Rabun County, was appointed to the post by Gov. Brian Kemp. He was sworn-in this week along with three other new GEFA members.
GEFA provides loans to local governments for water, sewer, and solid waste infrastructure. The authority also manages state energy and utility programs and oversees land conservation projects, according to its website.
In November 2012, Story was hired to serve as the liaison between Habersham County and the University of Georgia as part of their Archway Partnership. He held the job for several years and, during that time, helped guide Habersham’s economic development planning.
Prior to joining Archway, Story served as director of operations for FrogueClark, LLC, a government relations consulting firm. He also served as a congressional aide for fourteen years, working for then-Congressman Nathan Deal and former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
Rick Story is a member of the Rabun County Tourism Development Authority and he is a deacon and youth leader at Clayton Baptist Church. He earned an associate’s degree from Young Harris College and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of West Georgia.
Story lives in Clayton.
