Storm knocks out power in northern Habersham

The severe weather making its way across northern Georgia has knocked out electrical service to hundreds of homes on the north end of Habersham County.

Habersham EMC reports it has restored service to all of the nearly 400 members left without power in an area stretching from New Liberty Road to GA 197 and from Hardman Road north.

Georgia Power reported a few scattered outages in Habersham, Hall, Rabun, and White counties.

A severe thunderstorm swept through around 2:30 p.m., bringing torrential rainfall and gusty winds to the region.

“Behind this line of storms, no more are expected for the rest of the afternoon,” says Now Habersham weather reporter Tyler Penland. “More storms are possible Friday afternoon, however, so stay weather aware!”
