Still no arrests in Easter shooting in Toccoa

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Toccoa Police Department are still investigating a weekend shooting that injured two people.

The shooting happened on Whitman Street in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday. Initial reports from the scene indicated it may have been a drive-by. The two who were shot were treated and released from a local hospital.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about the incident. They have not announced any arrests and have not given any indication as to a possible motive. However, they do say it appears it was targeted.

“The shooting appears to be directed at the victims and not random,” GBI Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles tells Now Habersham.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize requested the GBI’s assistance with the investigation. Miles says she does not have any additional information to release at this time.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
