A Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured on Saturday in an on-duty wreck in Toccoa.

On June 20 at approximately 1:20 pm, a marked Stephens County Sheriff’s unit, driven by Arron Moss, was responding to a 911 call for service with lights and siren activated. While traveling west on East Tugalo Street negotiating a curve, the unit traveled off the roadway onto the southern shoulder. The unit struck two driveway culverts, crossed a driveway, and then overturned while simultaneously traveling down an embankment.

The unit came to final rest off the roadway on its wheels. Moss was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries, according to the Georgia State Patrol. He is expected to recover.

Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Andy Myers told ConnectLocal News that Moss was responding to assist the Toccoa Police Department when the accident happened.
