Stephens County schools put on lockdown during manhunt in Toccoa

Law enforcement agencies in northeast Georgia are on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect out of Stephens County.

Toccoa Police and Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies searched for several hours this afternoon after the suspect reportedly held up a business on Big A Road.

Stephens County High School and Stephens County Middle School were placed on lockdown. Students were kept inside after the school day ended as the manhunt continued. Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley lifted the lockdowns around 3:45 p.m. and allowed the schools to release their students, according to WNEG News.

Authorities issued a BOLO for the suspect. He’s described as a white male, six-foot 3 inches tall, and weighs approximately 156 pounds. The suspect was reportedly driving a red 2014 Mazda6.
