Stephens County announces teacher, staff vaccination schedule

The Stephens County School System has unveiled its COVID-19 vaccination plan for teachers and staff. Superintendent Daniel Oldham sent out an email Tuesday informing employees the school system will use the Pfizer vaccine. He said they’re working with Stephens County Hospital to offer vaccination clinics for first and second doses.

According to Oldham, the school system will hold two vaccination clinics at Stephens County High School. The first dose will be administered from 12:30-4 p.m. on Friday, March 12.  The second dose will be administered from 3:30-6 p.m. on Friday, April 2.

Employees who wish to receive the vaccine may pre-register online.

Oldham says administrators are “excited” that the state has expanded its vaccination rollout plan to include all school staff.

The Hall County School System is offering its employees the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine and has scheduled two vaccination clinics for its employees next week. Hall County is working with the District 2 Public Health Department to provide staff injections. The school systems in Habersham and White counties are coordinating their staff vaccination efforts with local county health departments.

Under Georgia’s expanded vaccination plan, public and private school teachers and staff in grades pre-K through 12th grade will be eligible to receive the vaccine beginning Monday, March 8.
