Stella Wilson Hardman passed away on January 12, 2017 in Matthews, North Carolina, after residing at Weddington Park Assisted Living in Matthews, North Carolina.
She was born on March 20, 1927. Stella is survived by her son Hugh Lamar Hardman Jr., daughter-in-law Carolyn Anderson Hardman, daughter Linda Dianne Hardman, grandchildren Cory Hugh Hardman, Henry Luke “Hank” Hardman, and Katy Loye Sumner, and her husband Chance Sumner, and great grandchildren Grayson Chance Sumner, and Zachary Benton Sumner, and niece Ann Tomlin and her husband Bob Tomlin.
After graduating from Piedmont College in Demorest, GA with a double major in science and social studies and a minor in physical education, Stella’s first career was teaching middle and high school students in science and social studies over 30 years in Colbert, GA, Warner Robins, GA, Gainesville, GA, Lawrenceville, GA and finally in Macon, GA. She then worked for her church, Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia for a few years followed by working at both Keeping Macon/Bibb Beautiful and the Cherry Blossom Festival. Her last position was serving as Regional Director of the Central Region of Georgia for The Alzheimer’s Association.
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel, 5495 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville Georgia on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 12030 Highway 197 North in Clarkesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service Monday from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM.
