SR 184 in Stephens County reopens after lumber truck overturns

Traffic is moving again on State Route 184 in Stephens County after a tractor-trailer loaded with lumber wrecked. The accident shut down the highway for over an hour.

Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Commander Donnie Saddler responded to the wreck around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26. According to Saddler’s preliminary crash report, the truck driver miscalculated the clearance while attempting to turn right onto Edgewater Drive from SR 184. The trailer overturned as it slid down an embankment.

Saddler says the tractor remained partially upright. The crash disabled the truck and shut down the highway near the accident site while crews cleared the scene.

The wreck did not injure the driver, Willie Losie Montgomery, 50, of Beatrice, Alabama, and no charges were filed.
