Thousands of state government employees will return to work Wednesday after a day off due to the threat of winter weather. Gov. Brian Kemp made the decision to reopen offices based on the latest weather forecast. However, he’s leaving it up to agency heads to determine what time those offices open. Some state offices north of metro-Atlanta may have delayed openings or closures if bad weather develops overnight.
The governor closed state offices in metro Atlanta and North Georgia Tuesday due to the threat of impending winter weather. That winter storm didn’t materialize. Temperatures dropped slowly and by the time the cold hit Georgia most of the moisture in the air was gone.
There’s still a chance of light snow showers and patchy black ice across the region overnight into Wednesday. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for eight north Georgia counties.
“I want to thank state and local leaders, especially Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, agency officials, law enforcement, and first responders for working around the clock to ensure the safety of Georgians across our state and visitors here for Super Bowl LIII,” Kemp stated in a press release.
